** This review is Stream Of Conscience. Observations made watching the episode for the first time)**
Once again, I was unable to avoid a spoiler and know the end result of this episode. Took a bit of wind out of my sails. Before I saw many stuff praising the episode and I was super excited. Then I clicked the wrong link when going through my art stacks (I was trying to avoid most pony artists) and saw “Spoiler” but the spoiler was right next to the warning. Still I’m excited to find out how it all happens. So without further ado, here is my stream of conscience review:
*We start with our favorite fillies (unless you’re a sadist who likes the bully twins) trying to figure out what to do next in their search for their cutie marks.
*I guess it’s been awhile so a song is in order. I know certain fans who will be banging their heads against a wall right now. As for me, I end up liking their songs. By all accounts I should hate them because they aren’t my style, but Ingram has a way of hooking me 90% of the time.
*Well at least it was short and sweet. As with most CMC songs, I liked it. Though I foresee a reprise later.
*Been a while since we saw the adorable little British colt, Pipsqueak.
*Campaign manager cutie marks? If my favorite fillies get James Carville for their cutie mark, I’m out of here:
*Cue the CMB: Cutie Mark Bitches. You know Diamond Tiara had to be running too. She wants s to control everything.
*I know schools like to honor their donors, but that takes it too far.
*Forget the last one, a big statue is REALLY taking it too far.
*She’s even a bitch to her best friend (shake head)
*Yeah, I’m sure that will win them over Tiara (rolls eyes)
*Another song. They’re really going for it now.
*I so wanted to see that tether ball come back and knock her silly.
*That sounds like blackmail! Oh wait, it is.
*That is one strong filly! Or one weak building structure.
*Blackmail and bribery. She is truly a politician.
*Diamond Tiara, the Hilary Clinton of Equestria. She does alright until she opens her mouth. Also, I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for Silver Spoon (who sings much better than Tiara).
*You knew she couldn’t lose and just walk away.
*You treat your friends like crap, don’t expect them to help you out. Oh, and way to go Silver Spoon!
*Of course, the bully has an overbearing parent. Bully 101 in TV and movies.
*It’s OK, it’s just a kid getting crushed under a heavy statue, nothing to see.
*Ok, she’s not quite Hilary Clinton. She can evoke sympathy.
*I’m allergic to that song. I can’t believe that character can actually cause that to happen (the lovely song probably gets some of the credit for that).
*It is weird because I can’t believe I’m feeling sorry for her either.
*You’re all weird! But not me, for I I’m the king of the Potato People!!!!
*Defiant to the end. You got to admire her consistency.
*That double chin look she just gave will be a new fandom expression, I just know it:
*Wow, she is just incapable of not getting pissy.
*Ok, I take it back: bitch!
*A third song! This may tie Magical Mystery Cure for most one episode songs.
*The tension! Glad I see these on Youtube so I don’t have to wait for a commercial break to end before seeing what happens. Though I do have to pause to type these little blips.
*Again I take it back. Her mother is Queen Bitch.
*Friends with the CMC?! They’re skiing in hell and my bacon just flew off my plate.
*Wow, I didn’t expect her mother to become so submissive.
*Ok, so that filly is really strong. Good, that means the school house isn’t made of balsa wood and Styrofoam after all.
*Just like Sunset Shimmer in Rainbow Rocks, they aren’t use to her being friendly. Changing ones image isn’t easy.
*Did we really need to see Twilight? “If we don’t put in a Mane 6 character in here somewhere, they’ll forget they’re watching My Little Pony.”
*They did it!!!!! I knew from the spoilers that they did but even knowing it, I’m weeping like a baby here. I mean, my allergies are acting up... Ah, hell with it! Yes, I’m crying tears of joy.
*Big Mac and I are allergic to the same thing.
That has to go down as the best episode of the show so far. I have had my eyes tear up from time to time in episodes, but that one really opened up the flood gates. Had I stuck with the fandom, this would have not affected me, but when I decided to finally watch the show two years ago in a drunken stupor, I started to become emotionally involved with the characters. To see the CMC go through all they did and to finally get their marks is an elation that is almost akin to me finding my own cutie mark (were I a pony of course). One of the biggest worries I had about them getting their marks was it would effectively end the CMC, but the writers found a way to keep them as such. Also, I can finally stop calling Tiara and Silver the b word.
Also, just saw the episode title. Love it!
